Review: Hemp Heart Bars

When the SweatPink team offered up the newest campaign on Hemp Heart-bars-, I knew I had to get it.  I was doing research on them not too long before the campaign shot off, and was curious as to how they would taste && their effects on my body.  I’ve always been one of those weird health nuts, that eats things most people would find gross, and yet I find to be absolutely delicious.  Maybe I have “acquired a taste” for them, as some people would say, but regardless, I’ve never been let down.

The same goes for these little gems. I tried the chocolate flavor the minute they arrived in the mail.  It was a nice pre-workout to my run.  It has a slight nutty taste, and a whole lotta chocolate.  YUM! I think what I love most about them is that they are plant-based, yet packed with protein and healthy Omega-three’s.  I know I’ve said this before, but now that I am pregnant, I am looking for all the yummy and different ways to increase the amount of Omegas I am taking into my body, to support this little peanut’s brain growth.  download (1)

When I first shared a picture of the bars on IG, I began to get questions almost immediately.  “Are you sure that’s safe to be eating, especially pregnant?”  or “Aren’t you afraid it contains traces of marijuana?”  First off, I was kind of insulted that people would assume I did not do my research before eating something that could potentially harm me and my baby, and second of all, I dislike when people assume they know EVERYTHING about EVERYTHING.  It’s called research people.  Hemp contains 0.001% Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and will NOT cause a psychoactive effect nor will it cause a false positive drug test.   Hemp foods (seeds, protein powder, oil, etc.) contain virtually no CBD. It is simply a plant-based protein bar for people looking to live a healthier lifestyle, filled with delicious snacks. 🙂

This guy right here is hands down my favorite flavor.  I am a huge lover of all things apple cinnamon.  I make overnight oats, desserts, afternoon snacks, and then some, all revolving around apples and cinnamon.  When I took a bite of this bar, I was hooked.  No offense to the chocolate lovers, but this bar takes the cake in my book.  As soon as I finished it, I had to have more.  So I went online and purchased an entire box.  Luckily, Manitoba is offering a discount that get’s you 15% off, now through April 1st.

  1. Weird question, do you find that the bars leave you gassy? I was using just Manitoba Hemp Heart seeds in my cereal or salads and ended up having tummy issues, which in turn was effecting my running and working out. This bars look good but worry I will run into the same issues?

    1. Ohhhhh no! That stinks. I totally know how that feels. During the Princess Half this past weekend, I had the same problems, forcing me to run/walk the last 5 miles. BUT, I did not have one of the hemp bars before hand haha. I have a severely sensitive stomach, like I cannot eat anything it feels like, without issues. I did not have any problems with these bars. They are kind of greasy to the touch, but it’s all the fatty oils I think. I’ve had quite a few already, trouble free. I hope it doesn’t cause anyone tummy troubles, because the benefits of them are so worth it! ❤
