Smile, Breath, && Believe in Magic

I have been trying to find the right words to describe my latest trip to Florida, to run the <<<Disney Princess Half Marathon>>>, but it has been harder than I thought.  When I signed up for the race back in June, I could not wait for the day to come.  Then my story was given a new chapter, and when we found out we were expecting. I was a little leery as to how I would perform and so my normal anxiousness was heightened with fear, worry, and self-doubt.

If you follow my journey on IG, you would know that I barely did any running leading up to race day.  I was too scared to run in my first-trimester, and by the time the second rolled around, running was a lot different.  I couldn’t find that comfortable pace, things felt different, I was at a whole new level emotionally, and that little voice in the back of my head would nag me about being careful and not pushing it too hard.  So you can only imagine my thoughts about running 13.1 miles with no preparation.  I was even considering just walking the entire thing!  BUT, we all know that adrenaline//endorphin driven drive that kicks in on race days.  Your whole mentality changes. This is what scared me the most.  I am competitive && push harder than usual at races.  But I also knew I had to take it easier && listen to my body, in order to keep the baby safe.  Ohhh the dilemmas!  🙂

Let’s take it back to day one. I flew out Thursday evening, and arrived in Tampa ((where my momma lives)) pretty late at night. So nothing exciting happening then.  I did have an awesome guy sitting next to me on the plane, who helped me play my “keep your brain smart” games.  It helped the time go by fast.  🙂 And I arrived home to these little gems, who literally did not leave my side the entire time. 12715371_653459328416_7272142061799640314_n No shame in their disrupting your privacy game! ❤

DAY TWO started all the adventures. I mean who can complain about waking up to sunshine, warm weather, a pool, and morning yoga?

I literally spent most of the morning laying pool side with the pups, soaking up all of the sunshine I could possibly take in.  I am not a winter girl, by any means.  I was in my element and it was amazing.  Around lunch time, my momma and I headed to the EXPO!!  I was so excited to meet the wonderful people there && catch up with some of my favorite brands!  I even met Miss. America! ❤

Afterwards, we headed to Fred’s Buffet, for some homemade Southern comfort  food.  I must say, I was impressed with the mannerism of waiters//waitresses down there.  Everything was always, “yes ma’am!” It was refreshing, because here in the dirty Jersey, people are quite the opposite.  And the food was DELISH!  I could have eaten there every night if my parents were down for that.  🙂 I got some good buys at the Expo too.  I was obsessed with the Princess Up! half jacket, and when I didn’t win the SparkleAthletic Giveaway on IG for the Princess in Training hat, I had to buy that as well.

DAY THREE was probably my favorite of the entire weekend! Why???? BECAUSE I GOT TO MEET LIKE A MILLION OF MY FAVORITE RUNNING IDOLS!!!! Saturday was all about the #werunsocial social meet up in Disney Springs, where I felt like I was meeting celebrities!  It was such a cool experience to meet running inspirations and fellow IG running junkies!  AND…it was sponsored by my favorite company ever, PROCOMPRESSION. 🙂

Like for real, it was EPIC!  I met new friends, I learned a lot about the different companies sponsoring && I felt like my own little celebrity, with people wanting to take their pictures with me!  I LOVE RUNNING && I LOVE THE IG COMMUNITY!  ❤ ❤ ❤

DAY FOUR–RACE DAY came so early, I mean so early, I slept through my alarm, and I woke in a terror to my mom saying, “are you racing today?” Talk about a wakeup call!  GEESH!  So I rushed around getting ready, and stuffing my face with some kind of breakfast.  I didn’t get to do my morning ritual, which will play a big role later in the race.  I got my wig on, and quickly threw on my face gems, and we were off! The whole way there I panicked about not making it, and having to go to the bathroom, and all those normal pre-race jitters, but I was actually truly running late.

So I took car selfies and sang songs with my momma to distract my worrying mind. Think I could pull off Ariel hair on the regular?  🙂 ❤ HA!  When my momma dropped me off, I ran to the gear check and got right in line for the bathrooms. BUT the lines were tremendously long, and it was already 5:15.

I was in the first corral and we were set to start running by 5:30. I decided to skip the bathroom and began my two mile long sprint to the starting line. No lie, I ran with the awesome lady who took second in the entire race.  She was running late too.  To bad I couldn’t keep up with her for the 13.1  miles through Disney!  Keep dreaming, right?  🙂

And there it is, the starting fireworks!  Let the excitement commence.  As usual, my nerves were completely gone, and I just pushed one foot in front of the other, down the dark highway, on my way to Magic Kingdom.  It was kind of boring in the beginning, but I was in a good groove.  I was maintaining a decent pace for a pregnant lady, and felt surprisingly awesome!  I ran six miles straight without needed to take a breather, and only stopped to take my picture with the first characters!

Shortly after, we found ourselves behind the scenes at Magic Kingdom, heading down main street towards the castle.

On our way out of Magic Kingdom, they had Beauty && the Beast, and Sleeping Beauty, so I of course had to stop and wait in line again.  Forget time, pace, expectations!  You can’t come to run the Disney Princess Half and not take it all in.  What’s the point then?  I took every photo op present.  I was going to get my moneys worth, and have the memories to look back on.

The sun was starting to come up at this point, and it quickly got hot. This was the start of my harder times.  I was physically tired.  I was sore.  I had to poop still, but couldn’t, no matter how many times I stopped t0 try.  Running started to get super uncomfortable.  I wonder why. And I was ridiculously hungry.  I decided it was time to walk//run && make the best of the awesome day!  No sense in stressing about anything!

Finally, we were rounding the exit for Epcot. I filled my water bottle for the 5th time, and headed up the hill towards the park.  Once I reached the crowd support there, I was able to kick it back into high gear.  I knew I only had a couple miles left. And the runners support was awesome too!

Then it was time to cross the finish line and complete my first Disney Princess Half Marathon, 17 weeks pregnant with my little peanut!  I am so proud of myself for sticking it out, and having a great time.  I am happy things went well && the baby remained safe.  I loved my costume.  I loved my energy.  I loved just having fun and smiling from ear to ear.

And it doesn’t hurt that one of my beautiful IG loveys was waiting for me at the finish line, long after she finished, just to meet me and congratulate me.  Bianca is a wonderful soul; so genuine and awesome!  I loved her!  Send a shout out to her for achieving a PR on the course!  Her blog is or go say hi at her IG: mittenrunner. ❤

Of course I had to do my day’s yoga poses in costume before heading to lunch at the Celebration Tavern with some family friends!  🙂

DAY FIVE was all about the beach and relaxing! We slept in, like I mean really slept in haha!  Woke up and packed a lunch for a day at Clearwater! It was beautiful.  I could live on the beach.  I actually had my sandwich stolen right out of my hands by a big ole seagull too.  Nasty buggers.

With views like this, nothing can mess up your day.

And then it was cuddle time, for one last night with these goons, before an early morning flight home.

I just want to thank my mom and dad for housing me, feeding me, spending money on me, and for chartering me around wherever I wanted to go.  I love you and appreciate you so much.  I want to thank my fans for supporting me and encouraging me throughout the entire trip.  Shout out to my girlies I met while down there.  I am so happy we were finally able to connect and hug each other in real life. ❤  Thank you to the volunteers for their cheers, shoutouts, water filling, and support.  Thank you to RunDisney for putting on a great time && making people’s dreams come true.  It was real.  It was fun. And I’ll be back, just with a baby next time!  🙂 ❤

  1. Glad you enjoyed the race! And you are seriously too sweet! I’m glad I got to meet up with you too. Are you finding out the baby’s gender? I hope you share some details ;). Baby will totally come out with some running shoes on! haha
